Kathrein dance
On 23th of November 2024, from 8 pm to 11 pm
November is the day of St Catherine. The Kathreintanz honours Saint Catherine of Alexandria and symbolises the wish for a good husband. In rural life, St Catherine's Day marked the end of the grazing year, the farmhands and maidservants received their wages and could change farms. Afterwards, there was a dance to celebrate the day.
From 8 pm, the folk dance group "Lindwurm" presents the Kathrein dance. A number of Carinthian folk dances and Schuplattler dances are also performed, involving the audience, which delights young and old and creates a relaxed, exuberant atmosphere.
4 to 6 couples in the Lesachtal festive costume and live music will definitely bring you closer to this beautiful Carinthian custom.
